Job SummaryLocation: One Hope Church, 5612 Corby Street, Omaha, NE 68104
Work Schedule: Mon – Thu, 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Four Saturdays per year. The program is closed during OPS days off or school closings.
Work with Upward Bound Math and Science students from Benson High School during our after‑school tutoring program hosted at Citylight Benson Church. The Upward Bound Coach will provide academic support in all subjects, especially in math and/or science, and will offer guidance, coaching, and goal setting to help students reach their academic and personal goals during the school year.
Responsibilities- Maintain complete confidentiality of student information and interactions.
- Provide intensive and ongoing academic support in STEM subject areas at our after‑school program at Citylight Benson Church at least one day per week during the academic year between 3:00 pm–5:30 pm.
- Use basic academic coaching techniques to advise students in their academic goals.
- Monitor student progress in these goals and assist the Assistant Director in appropriate academic follow‑up and resources needed to address ongoing student needs.
- Attend orientation sessions and staff meetings as necessary.
- Participate in student conferences and field trips as necessary.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
- Completion or near completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM subject area or other field related to program needs required.
- Coursework in STEM, education, counseling, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience working with people from a variety of educational, cultural, and socio‑economic backgrounds preferred.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities- Ability to handle discipline issues that arise and notify the Coordinator/Assistant Director.
- Ability to monitor academic progress of students and coach them to reach their academic goals as they move through the OPS curriculum.
- Ability to maintain complete confidentiality of student information and interactions.
- Ability to commit to at least one consistent day a week from 3:00 pm–5:30 pm at our Citylight Benson after‑school program to provide academic support to students.
