Job Purpose / Overview
The 1st Grade Teacher is responsible for providing a nurturing, faith-filled learning environment that supports the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional development of young learners. The teacher integrates Catholic values and teachings throughout the curriculum while fostering a love of learning and respect for others.
Key Responsibilities / Duties
- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction in all core subject areas
- Integrate Catholic teachings, prayer, and values into daily classroom instruction
- Prepare students for foundational faith milestones (as appropriate, e.g., sacramental awareness)
- Create a safe, structured, and caring classroom environment
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of young learners
- Use a variety of assessment strategies to monitor and support student progress
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student growth and development
- Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and administration to support student success
- Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, professional development, and faculty meetings
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
- Valid teaching certification (or eligibility/willingness to obtain)
- Practicing Catholic in good standing preferred
- Knowledge of early childhood development and instructional best practices
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
