Benson High School Description

Benson High School is the home of the Mighty Bunnies. Founded in 1904, we are proud of our tradition, academic excellence, school spirit and a family-like atmosphere. Located in the historic Benson neighborhood, BHS enjoys an enrollment of approximately 1400 students who are socioeconomically, racially, and culturally diverse. Benson High as a school is a leader in Career Academies and the proud home of three nationally recognized model status academies;
Freshman Academy, Health Professions Academy, and our Design/Construction Academy. Each academy exposes our students to content curriculum with college and career ready application. Each academy partners with various businesses in Omaha and the Benson Community to enrich your students’ high school experience. While our focus is on the career academies, Benson High will always offer traditional honors, advanced placement (AP), Cambridge and dual enrollment (DE) classes for those students wishing to take advantage.

Salary Schedule

Omaha School Administrators Association Level 11 / Salary credit may be awarded for applicable experience. Placement on the salary schedule will follow the applicable agreement.

Time Frame

The position would begin August 1, 2026, with time in July designated for preparation, planning, and meetings.

Position Purpose

The principal is the leader for all functions on campus and is the instructional leader of the school. OPS seeks excellent leaders who can prepare all students for college, career, and community leadership.

  • Helps teachers reach and engage each student based on individual needs and interests.
