The teacher is responsible for fulfilling the obligations and reflecting the philosophies outlined in the contract, state and federal law, and the policies, regulations, and rules of the Bellevue Public Schools. The teacher is responsible for providing students with appropriate and effective instruction, being a positive role model, and ensuring a safe and healthy environment in which students can achieve their maximum potential.

• Effectively apply professional competencies to meet the minimum standards as adopted by the State Board of Education and the Selected Evaluation Criteria of the Bellevue Public Schools.
• Follow the Code of Ethics adopted by the State Board of Education.
• Know and follow all policies, rules, regulations, and directives of the district and the principal or administrator in the building where employed.
• Exhibit character and moral standards that are temperate in nature and may be emulated by the youth of the community.
• Maintain mental and physical health adequate to meet the responsibilities of the position.
• Devote a satisfactory measure of time and energy to the duties assigned and to the business of the school.
• Maintain a positive relationship with patrons, employees, and students in daily interactions.
• Conduct oneself both in and out of school in a manner that avoids reflecting grave discredit upon the school, district, or employee.
• Conduct oneself morally within the limits established in law for the continuation of professional educator contracts.
• Conduct supervisory responsibilities of students or other employees without cruelty.
• Fulfill the responsibilities of teaching as defined in state law.
• Fulfill responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor/administrator.
• This position is subject to a veterans preference.
