Title: Surgical Assistant
Practice: Midwest Oral Surgery & Dental Implants
Location: 14625 California Street, Omaha, NE 68154
Hours: Mon – Thurs 7:30 am – 5 pm;
Fri 7:30 am – 1 pm
The Surgical Assistant ensures compassionate, effective, and efficient delivery of high‑quality clinical care for patients while maintaining safety in the work environment. The role includes assisting oral surgeons during procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow in a fast‑paced setting, and contributing to high‑quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Ensure that all patients receive the highest quality of care and service
- Communicate with patients in a friendly, professional manner
- Maintain positive, pleasant, and professional relationships among patients, staff, and surgeons
- Assist oral surgeons during surgical procedures and prepare instruments, materials, and equipment needed
- Support efforts to maintain a clean, professional environment and compliance with company policies
- Monitor patients' vital signs during procedures and provide support as needed
- Assist with postoperative care, including patient education and follow‑up instructions
- Document patient encounters and surgical procedures accurately
- Foster a collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and exceptional patient care
- Attend and participate in regular team meetings
- Adhere to best practices, established protocols, and highest patient safety standards
- Crash carts
- Fire extinguishers
- Emergency preparedness attestations
- Attestation procedures
- X‑ray unit calibration
- Omni‑cam calibration
- Drug book accuracy and controlled substance inventory
- Ensure oxygen tanks are full and hooked up
- Ensure invoices for controlled substances are printed
- Ensure proper controlled substance safety protocols are adhered to
Education/Certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent required (some college preferred)
- Previous clinical experience, preferably as an oral surgery assistant or dental assistant (candidate will be trained)
- Basic life support certification required (training available)

- Fast‑paced dental office environment
- Overtime may be required as needed
- Some travel for training and job functions
- Safety procedures required, including protection from X‑rays
- Potential long hours standing
