Position Summary
The Pediatric Dentist will provide quality dental care by diagnosing, treating, preventing, and educating the patient on oral hygiene while creating a positive, child‑friendly dental experience. The role involves performing the full scope of pediatric dentistry in both clinic and hospital settings.
Responsibilities- Render professional medical services as a Pediatric Dentist to patients within the privileged scope of service as directed;
- Render all services in a professional manner and in compliance with accepted medical standards;
- Comply with department policies and protocols, all applicable staff policies, bylaws, rules and regulations, and other employment conditions;
- Complete health records, reports, and time records timely, and perform other duties necessary to meet patient care obligations;
- Promote delivery of consistent standards of care;
- Be available to staff to explain or resolve problems, concerns or conflicts in patient management as needed;
- Foster goodwill and an outstanding reputation for excellence in medical services and care;
- Participate in at least one approved community engagement activity every six months;
- Work collaboratively with other disciplines to identify and implement opportunities to enhance patient and family satisfaction;
- Assist in compliance with all laws and standards of local, state, and federal agencies and certifying bodies, including The Joint Commission;
- Participate in quality improvement activities as necessary;
- Work collaboratively with dental leadership to maintain smooth patient flow with high customer satisfaction;
- Participate in activities necessary to promote the employer to consumers, payors, and partners;
- Support the mission, vision, and values of the employer;
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities reasonably incident to the practice of pediatric dentistry and those assigned by the employer.
- Current unrestricted Nebraska dental license, Dental Surgery (DDS) degree, and Federal DEA certificate;
- Completion of an accredited pediatric dentistry residency program;
- Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatric Dentistry;
- Demonstrable leadership role and achievements in a complex healthcare delivery system;
- Familiarity with the PCMH model of care;
- Knowledge of or understanding of the FQHC healthcare delivery model;
- Mastery of critical thinking, analytics, and problem‑solving skills;
- Excellent communication skills with individuals at various levels, including sensitive situations;
- Knowledge of quality assurance and risk management standards and processes;
- Experience with standards and processes established by the Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, CDC, ADA, and other regulatory entities;
- Knowledge of federal regulations governing dental care clinical staff;
- Knowledge of the credentialing process, delineation of clinical privileges, and peer review for dental staff;
- Hours of work:
Negotiable; - Required active BLS certificate;
- Completion of 30 hours of dental continuing education every two years as required by the NE state dental board;
- Willingness to travel sometimes;
- Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, blood borne pathogens, and loud noise, with appropriate personal protective equipment and engineering controls provided by the employer;
