We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Radio Station Manager/Program Manager to lead the operations and programming of our new radio station. This role will assist in the final preparations for helping the station “go live” and oversee all aspects of station management, including content development, scheduling, compliance, and audience engagement.

Major Responsibilities & Duties
  • Oversee daily operations for broadcast and digital audio: programming schedules, automation, traffic, and audio quality across FM/AM, livestream, and podcasts.
  • Ensure compliance with FCC (broadcast) and other applicable regulations, including EAS requirements, DMCA/copyright/licensing for digital audio, podcast music licensing, privacy/consent for minors, and nonprofit reporting standards.
  • Partner with engineering/technical staff to maintain studios, transmission, production equipment, and digital infrastructure.
  • Develop a cohesive content strategy across linear broadcast, live streams, and podcasts that reflects community diversity, culture, and interests.
  • Maintain an editorial calendar for shows, livestream events, and podcast episodes; ensure consistent voice, tone, and quality.
  • Use analytics to inform programming decisions and improve reach and relevance.
  • Lead revenue development: on‑air drives, digital campaigns, grants, donor relations, underwriting, podcast sponsor ships, and community partnerships.
  • Coordinate outreach, educational programs, and live or virtual events to expand impact and drive listenership and subscriptions.
  • Manage digital presence across website and social channels; repurpose on‑air content into clips and on‑demand formats; coordinate newsletters and cross‑promotion.
  • Maintain archives and rights management, including releases/consents, music and clip licensing, safe storage, and retention policies.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise staff, interns, and volunteers across on‑air, production, and digital roles; provide coaching and feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative, mission‑driven environment; support on‑air hosts, producers, and podcast creators.
  • Provide mentorship and skill‑building opportunities for Boys Town youth in media literacy, audio storytelling, interviewing, editing, podcast production, and on‑air performance.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget with strong fiscal stewardship across broadcast and digital initiatives.
  • Grow the station’s presence across broadcast, digital, and social media platforms.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, able to work effectively with staff and volunteers.
  • Working knowledge of FCC broadcast requirements and digital audio compliance.
  • Proficiency with audio production tools and workflows, broadcast automation/traffic, and common streaming and podcast platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media, Nonprofit Management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in nonprofit management, community media, or radio broadcasting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success launching and sustaining podcasts or livestream initiatives; experience with sponsor ships/underwriting and grant writing preferred.
  • Familiarity with content standards and grant/reporting compliance.
  • Experience with broadcast automation/traffic systems and modern audio production workflows.
  • Serves as a role model in carrying out activities and behaviors that reflect the values and principles of the Boys Town mission.
  • Other duties may be required and assigned as determined by a supervisor to meet organizational needs.
Physical Requirements , Equipment Usage, Work Environment
  • Position requires moderate physical activity handling average weight objects 20 to 50 pounds on occasion in a normal office administrative environment with minimum exposure to physical risks.
