Position: Safety Specialist 1

Role Summary

The Safety Specialist 1 will coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine construction projects. Responsibilities include conducting safety inspections, identifying and documenting abatement of hazardous conditions, writing reports, supporting field leadership, and ensuring compliance with laws and company policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine construction projects.
  • Conduct regular walk‑through inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Perform safety audits, document findings, and recommend abatement.
  • Conduct project‑specific new‑hire orientation and oversee drug and alcohol policy compliance.
  • Monitor implementation of prime contractor/subcontractor safety programs.
  • Attend project pre‑planning, progress and other relevant meetings to discuss safety matters.
  • Support field leadership in safety program specifics, chair project safety committee.
  • Assist in investigation of project‑related accidents and recommend process changes.
  • Coordinate with injured employees and clinics for timely return to work; compile injury progress reports.
  • Monitor site safety incentive program.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Accurate, timely work performance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and construction technology.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, local, and company safety regulations.
  • Ability to recognize hazards and implement corrective measures.
  • Relationship building across projects.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in a safety and health‑related field (Preferred).
  • Equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
  • 0-2 years construction or related experience (Required).
