General Summary

Monday-Friday- 2:00pm-6:30pm
Non-School Days and Summer: 9:00am-5:30pm

$20.00-$25.00 hourly rate

Overview

Overall responsibility for the Calming Room (or Mindful Moment Room) where students come to take a break from program and receive individual or small group assistance with self-regulation.

Essential Job Functions Calming Room
  • Work with individual and small groups of children on mindfulness practices including meditation, deep breathing, and yoga.
  • De-escalate children through discussion of feelings and emotions
  • Create a calm atmosphere where children are able to decompress and discover ways to self-regulate
  • Cater mindfulness interventions to the needs of each child.
  • Communicate with staff on effective ways to work with specific children.
  • Build relationships with children to gain an understanding of their unique needs.
Administration/Record Keeping
  • Maintain data accuracy including data maintenance and entry into appropriate databases in accordance with agency standards.
  • Conduct necessary evaluations as directed.
  • Keep all client names and information and other agency business confidential.
  • Attend and participate in agency and community training opportunities and meetings as requested.
  • Understand and follow Completely KIDS’ policies and procedures at all times.
  • Follow up on all written and verbal communications within 24 hours.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.
Direct Supervision
  • Meet with supervisor as required.
  • Continue personal and professional growth and development through reading, research, workshops, seminars and other strategies which will broaden knowledge on approaches and techniques.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Mastery of evidence-based mindfulness practices
  • Pertinent certification and licensing preferred
  • Ability to communicate well with a variety of people including excellent written and interpersonal skills necessary for achieving goals and resolving conflicts. Good judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Assertive
  • Sensitive towards student/family issues
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to set and meet goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and self-starting skills.
Work Experience
  • 2-3 years of direct service experience working with at-risk youth and families preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and insurance that meets agency requirements
  • Active involvement in community organizations or coalitions preferred
Education Level

Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university required in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Human Service, or related field preferred.

    Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with others. 75-100%

Working Conditions

Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Work is generally performed within a school and/or office environment. Position requires flexibility with work hours to accommodate program sites (so schedule is typically 20-25 hours per week, with some additional evening and weekend work as required).
