The Inventory System Manager plays a critical role in managing and overseeing all aspects of grain inventory within an organization. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and optimization of grain stock levels, as well as implementing efficient inventory management practices. The Inventory System Manager collaborates closely with various teams, including procurement, operations, logistics, and finance, to maintain optimal inventory levels, minimize losses, and support the organization’s overall supply chain operations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor and manage grain inventory levels, ensuring they align with demand forecasts and production schedules.
    • Implement inventory control policies and procedures to prevent stockouts, excesses, and shrinkage.
    • Regularly review and update inventory targets to optimize working capital and minimize holding costs.
  • Tracking and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all grain inventory transactions, including receipts, shipments, transfers, and adjustments.
    • Generate detailed inventory reports and dashboards for management, showcasing inventory trends, turnover rates, and stock aging.
  • Forecasting and Planning:
    • Collaborate with procurement and production teams to develop accurate demand forecasts for different grain types.
    • Assist in creating inventory replenishment plans based on consumption patterns, market trends, and production capacities.
  • Quality Control:
    • Implement quality control measures to ensure that stored grains meet established standards and are protected from contamination, pests, and spoilage.
    • Conduct regular inspections of inventory to identify potential quality issues and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Develop strategies to minimize grain losses due to factors such as spoilage, theft, and handling errors.
  • Implement effective pest control measures and partner with relevant teams to maintain proper storage conditions.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Continuously identify opportunities for streamlining inventory management processes, reducing manual tasks, and enhancing efficiency.
    • Integrate technology solutions, such as inventory management software and tracking systems, to automate data entry and improve accuracy.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with procurement teams to coordinate the timely receipt of grains, ensuring alignment with production schedules.
    • Collaborate with logistics teams to manage grain shipments, transfers, and transportation to and from different locations.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay informed about relevant regulations and guidelines related to grain storage, handling, and safety.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and legal requirements to maintain a safe and compliant inventory environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in inventory management, preferably within the agricultural or grain industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures and pest management in the context of grain storage.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and tools for data tracking and analysis.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present insights to stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to address challenges and implement practical solutions.
  • Detail-oriented approach to ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and guidelines related to grain storage and safety.
