Overview:
The Commodity & Cattle Procurement Assistant supports the everyday execution of commodity and cattle procurement activities, including logistics coordination, inventory tracking, and accounting related functions. This role ensures that procurement transactions are accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner, while facilitating smooth workflows from purchase through delivery. The coordinator works closely with internal partners across Cobalt’s feed yards and corporate team, as well as with external suppliers and producers, to support efficient, accurate, and reliable procurement operations.

Essential

Functions

  • Maintain, reconcile, and support commodity and cattle procurement data.
  • Support the month-end process by ensuring data accuracy and timely completion of required tasks.
  • Support contract administration for sent and received commodity and cattle contracts, including distribution and tracking.
  • Maintain vendor setup and records related to commodity and cattle procurement.
  • Maintain and update commodity and cattle lien information and assist with lien searches as required.
  • Serve as one of multiple points of contact for vendors regarding contracts, invoices, and payment inquiries.
  • Gather yard receive reports, match deliveries to contracts and invoices, and prepare transactions for payment processing.
  • Assist in tracking Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payable activity related to commodities and cattle procurement.
  • Work with suppliers and internal teams to resolve invoices discrepancies.
  • Support timely and accurate application of commodity and cattle costs to lots.
  • Communicate and track load numbers for suppliers and relay delivery and scheduling information to internal customers.
  • Build and maintain reports related to grain grade quality factors, usage trends, and related discounts.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support to merchandisers and procurement team members, including ad hoc projects.
  • Maintain a strong customer service and communication with feed yards, suppliers, and internal partners.
  • Assist with report preparation and data for management review as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar, or an Associate’s Degree plus 2 years of experience
  • Experience in lieu of education
  • Previous experience in the cattle feeding and/or grain and feed industries or strongly preferred
  • Experience with Turnkey Computer system or similar cattle software package preferred
