The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for performing accounting duties and business reporting and assisting as needed with any functions of the corporate office. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
LocationThis is an on-site position located at either our Columbus or Omaha, Nebraska Administrative Offices.
Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Ledger & Close Process
- Perform month-end and year-end close activities including journal entries and accruals.
Fixed Asset Records
- Maintain the fixed asset and depreciation schedule.
- Record monthly depreciation and amortization entries.
Business & Tax Reporting
- Monitor and maintain sales tax transactions and supporting documentation.
- Approve sales tax returns prior to filing.
- Prepare and file annual reports including Personal Property Tax, Form 1099, Unclaimed Property, and Business Licenses.
Insurance Support
- Assist in filing and monitoring insurance claims for vehicle and property incidents.
Education & Experience
- Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
- One to three years of progressive accounting experience.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to analyze technical accounting issues, determine root causes, and develop remediation strategies for permanent solutions.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude while managing multiple priorities.
- High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of financial and proprietary information.
