WHSCT Emergency Nurse Practitoner Band 7

The Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) is a practitioner who works autonomously within given guidelines to deliver care to a specific group of patients attending the Urgent Care and Treatment Centre without reference to a doctor.

The post holder will be part of a team of nursing and medical professionals leading in the delivery of a high quality service to patients presenting with lower acuity illness and minor injuries presenting to the Urgent Care and Treatment Centre in Omagh Hospital and Primary Care Complex.

The ENP will be required to develop key relationships with the following members of the multi-professional team:

-Hospital medical/nursing staff-Primary care staff-Community nursing/AHP staff

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the Trust’s policy on equality of opportunity is promoted through his/her own actions and those of any staff for whom he/she has responsibility.
  • Work closely with the Department Manager in developing the role of the Emergency Nurse Practitioner.
  • Develop, implement and monitor guidelines, standards, policies, protocols/care pathways.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with all members of the Emergency Care team and community care services, including treatment room staff.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse on Adult Branch of the live NMC Register.
  • Have a Nursing Degree AND 3 years post-registration experience within Emergency Department / Minor Injuries Unit OR
  • Have 5 years post-registration experience as a Band 5 including 3 years within Emergency Department / Minor Injuries Unit OR
  • Have 5 years post-registration experience, which must include a minimum of 2 years at Band 6 in Emergency Department / Minor Injuries Unit.
  • Certificate in ALS within the last 4 years.

    A course in supplementary Nurse Prescribing.
