Nature of WorkThis position is responsible for coordinating the management and purchase of motor pool inventory, the GSA fleet, Nisqually Transit vehicles, and capital equipment. In addition, this position also assists with scheduling and dispatch services for the Nisqually Transit Program.
Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct physical inventory and maintain inventory system for tribal motor pool vehicles, Nisqually Transit vehicles, and capital equipment.
- Coordinate purchase and disposal of tribal motor pool vehicles, Nisqually Transit vehicles, and capital equipment.
- Schedule emissions tests, licensing and permitting.
- Obtain exempt license plates for tribally-owned vehicles.
- Schedule vehicle repair and maintenance with Transportation Management Program.
- Manage GSA fleet and report mileage/service to GSA account representative as required.
- Track and analyze vehicle mileage to determine business or personal usage charges.
- Maintain auto insurance by reporting additions, deletions, and other changes.
- Submit reports of accidents involving tribally owned vehicles or watercraft and theft or loss to insurance carrier.
- Assist other Property and Procurement staff with administrative and financial duties related to the purchase, receipt, storage, distribution, and inventory of other Tribal equipment, supplies, and services.
- Work with Transportation Services Manager in the dispatch of transit needs for the community.
- Develop transit services schedules for drivers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of inventory management procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of vehicle licensing processes, emissions testing and permitting requirements.
- Knowledge of routine vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Knowledge of GSA fleet management maintenance requirements and documentation.
- Knowledge of auto insurance policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of common dispatching practices and development of route schedules.
- Skill in the operation of personal computers and standard office programs and equipment.
- Skill in accurate and efficient data entry processing.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to establish and maintain organized work methods.
- 3 years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, or motor pool operations OR a comparable amount of education, experience or training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for successful performance in this position.
- Dispatching experience preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance policy.
