This position will be primarily a Street Sweeper Operator.
Series Concept:
1. Maintenance Worker II (MWII) is the fully skilled working level in the Maintenance Worker Series which consists of the classifications of Maintenance Worker I, Maintenance Worker II, Field Crew Leader, and Lead Worker.
2. Maintenance Workers II are expected to be fully skilled in the tasks of a particular maintenance function, and operate all necessary hand/power tools and equipment with sufficient skill to independently perform tasks.
3. Some incumbents may receive assignments focused on one or two areas of particular skill, ability, or work needs.
4. Workers are expected to notice potential improvements in procedures and make correction recommendations to senior staff.
5. Incumbents implement the overall goals and mission of the project and take initiative to complete work in a safe, orderly, and high quality manner.
6. Maintenance Workers II are often called upon to share knowledge and teach necessary skills to co-workers and/or organize the work of a particular assignment or project involving others.

** Essential Functions

* * STORM AND WASTE WATER COLLECTION
*** Examples of Duties:
** 1. Knowledge and experience in Closed Circuit Television (CCTV). 2. Maintenance and repair of all storm and sanitary sewer lines, including but not limited to: main lines, maintenance holes, valves, air relief valves, pig ports, clean outs, catch basins, ditches, culverts, pond bar grates and control structures.
3. Research and create as-built files to facilitate map updates.
4. Operate and maintain pump station grounds, structures, and STEP systems.
5. Skilled operation of heavy duty equipment and vehicles.
6. Must be able to periodically take on-call 24 hour status for all waste water and stormwater system issues and be on the jobsite within 1 hour of a call.
7. Demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills with citizens, contractors, and crew members over the phone/radio and in person.
8. Punctual, regular and reliable attendance is essential for successful job performance.#

* ** Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
** 1. Knowledge of safety standards and practices in waste water and storm water collections and maintenance.
2. Knowledge of current and past underground utility techniques.
3. Knowledge of erosion and sediment control techniques.
4. Skills in basic drawing and mapping or basic notations to record map changes.
4. Skills in operating computer equipment and general office equipment.
5. Skills in operating an array of computer software systems (i.e. Microsoft office) 6. Ability to interpret utility maps and engineering as-built plans and locate underground utilities from physical ground features.
7. Ability to work from and follow written instructions.
8. Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations.
9. Ability to operate electronic locating equipment. 10. Knowledge of the layout of City streets. 11. Ability to prioritize work and call in locates within two business days of the scheduled work. 12. Ability to operate heavy equipment, applicable power tools and various hand tools. This includes but is not limited to: dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, excavators, service truck cranes, boom trucks, rollers, vacuum trucks, flushers, tampers, jackhammers, cutting torches and associated welding equipment, drill press, portable pumps, various drills, saw zaws, air compressor, grinders and chop saws.
13. Knowledge of the operation and repair of single and three phase motors and control systems and an understanding of lock out/tag out procedures.. 14. Knowledge of pump and generator station operation. 15. Knowledge of proper trenching and shoring procedures. 16. Ability to troubleshoot step systems and plan an effective course for correcting problems. 17. Ability to read blueprints, maps, and repair manuals.
18. Ability to select and use tools appropriate for the completion of the assigned tasks. 19. Ability to lift heavy objects and sustain physical activity for a long period of time. 20. Ability to perform general duties involved in the maintenance and repair of collection systems. 21. Ability to set up effective traffic control for working on City streets. 22.
Ability to work in close and confined spaces and ventilate work sites for safe accessibility. 23. Ability to use common sense and apply safe work habits in dangerous areas or with power equipment. 24.
