Veterinary Technician - Surgery

Overview

Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in Olympia, WA is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery department.

The ideal candidate is a licensed veterinary technician who is compassionate, humble and honest, with the desire to develop advanced anesthesia skills and receive mentorship from a VTS in Anesthesia and Analgesia. You will join a team that values collaboration, autonomy, and responsibility, and you will learn and grow within a supportive hospital environment.

Schedule: Tuesday–Friday 7:00am–5:00pm

Pay LVT I: $29–$36 / hour

* $3,000 sign on bonus for qualified Full-Time candidates

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through Kahuna leveling system. Competitive shift differential pay is offered for eligible nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

Shift differential examples:

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $8.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.00 Shift Differential

• Participate in client communication
• Accurately keep medical records
• Perform venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement
• Perform enteral and parenteral medication administration
• Formulate anesthetic protocols tailored to individual patient needs
• Accurately calculate drug dosages
• Setup, use and maintain anesthetic equipment
• Perform anesthetic induction, monitoring and recovery
• Interpret physiologic parameters, troubleshoot anesthetic complications and make appropriate interventions
• Utilize advanced anesthesia skills such as mechanical ventilation, ultrasound-guided nerve blocks, epidural injections, setup and monitoring of CRIs, placing arterial catheters and performing direct pressure monitoring
• Use hands-free techniques to perform digital radiographs
• Perform advanced imaging such as CT scans
• Provide both basic and advanced life support during a CPR event
• Mentor and train other associates and externs
