Position and Salary

The Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for a permanent full-time Paralegal 1 in the Regional Services Division. This position is located in Wenatchee, WA and will support the Children, Youth and Families Division. This position is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE).

  • Paralegal 1 Salary Range (Range 51): $55,836 – $75,108 annual.
  • The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • The following stipends may apply based on position requirements: 5% Dual Language Requirement Pay stipend for incumbents in positions designated as requiring dual language skills.

About the Regional Services Division – Wenatchee Office

The Wenatchee office includes 10 attorneys and 12 professional staff. The office represents:

  • Department of Children, Youth and Families in juvenile dependency litigation and licensing; offices in Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan, and Grant counties.
  • Department of Social and Health Services in adult protective services guardianship matters and licensing matters in the same counties.
  • Department of Labor and Industries in Workers Compensation matters.
  • Department of Employment Security in unemployment compensation appeals.
  • Department of Licensing in driver’s license revocation and suspension matters.
  • Wenatchee Valley College and Educational Service District 171.

Legal Services Provided: The office provides representation through litigation and client advice, including hearings and trials in juvenile and superior court and administrative hearings. Attorneys also handle cases appealed to the Court of Appeals and Washington Supreme Court.

Location Information

Wenatchee is located at the confluence of the Wenatchee and Columbia rivers in central Washington, with extensive litigation experience in a small, team-oriented office.

Job Duties

Paralegal 1 staff provide critical support for Assistant Attorneys General (AAGs) in litigation of state matters, preparing for trial, and applying knowledge of court rules related to legal practice, subject matter, and court filing procedures in civil and appellate matters. Duties may include analyzing facts, drafting documents and pleadings, interviewing witnesses, researching legal issues, coordinating preparation for litigation, tracking case status, and drafting legal notices.
