Position and SalaryThe Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for a permanent full‑time Paralegal 2 supervisor in the Social & Health Services Division located in Seattle, Washington and represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE).
Paralegal 2 (Range 55) Salary RangeSalary range: $61,644 – $82,872. Base pay will consider internal equity and candidate experience.
Additional Stipends and Location Pay- Effective July 1, 2025, Paralegal 2s assigned to work within King County receive Group C Assignment Pay adding 5% to base pay.
- Incumbents assigned to the Seattle office receive an additional 5% King County Location Pay stipend.

Aboutthe Seattle Social & Health Services Division
The division provides legal support to DCYF and DSHS, handling child abuse, neglect, and termination of parental rights proceedings; vulnerable adult protection and guardianship proceedings; foster care, child‑care, and adult family home administrative proceedings; and appeals. The fast‑paced high‑volume litigation requires excellent communication and time‑management skills and a commitment to child advocacy.
Duties and Essential Functions of a Paralegal 2 SupervisorSupervisory:
Supervises, trains, and coaches legal support staff; assists in prioritizing work; manages hiring and disciplinary processes; approves leave and schedule requests; enhances employee effectiveness through appraisal and professional development.
Legal support:
Performs complex paralegal duties at an expert level, drafts pleadings and briefs, verifies legal citations, schedules meetings and hearing dates, and keeps attorneys’ calendars up to date.
Management team:
Coordinates with the Administrative Office Manager and other division managers; drafts new office procedures; attends regular and special management meetings.
Combination of four years of experience through:
- Paralegal certification
- Two‑year paralegal degree
- Paralegal plus (or nine‑month post‑BA) certification
or one year experience as a Paralegal 1 in Washington State Service.
Examples of paraprofessional experience in support of an attorney include preparing pleadings, managing case documents, tracking discovery, researching legal issues, and verifying citations.
The most successful candidate will have familiarity with juvenile abuse/neglect litigation or family law, ability to manage a heavy workload, knowledge of court rules, effective use of related databases, and must communicate effectively. Exposure to highly distressing materials regarding sexual, physical, and psychological abuse and neglect will occur.
