Olympia Financial Group Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our dynamic internal legal team on a permanent, full-time basis.
Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role will provide legal advice and services across Olympia Financial Group Inc. and its business divisions, including Olympia Trust Company. The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, and a practical approach to managing legal risk while supporting Olympia’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities- Uphold the division and Olympia’s reputation and values, while promoting our motto “With Us, It’s Personal” in all interactions with employees, clients, and business associates.
- Provide legal guidance in variety of legal subjects including, corporate, commercial, employment, tax, trust, and securities that impact Olympia and its business divisions.
- Identify and implement practical solutions to mitigate legal and business risks.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal agreements and documents.
- Develop and oversee legal strategies for litigation and dispute resolution.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Manage relationships with external counsel as required.
- Maintain and update corporate legal documentation and governance records.
- Promote a culture of integrity, compliance, and ethical business practices throughout the organization.
- Flexible to perform various assigned tasks as requested by management and executives.
- Minimum 7+ years of legal experience, with exposure to in-house, and boutique or large law firm environments.
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Active membership with the Law Society of Alberta or eligibility for admission.
Strong ability to influence, advise, and collaborate with senior stakeholders. - Proven problem-solving skills and a results-oriented mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong professional relationships.
- Bilingual in French and English communication both written and spoken is an asset.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check and professional references.
