Brooks Blessings Adult Family Home
The primary role of the Caregiver on Duty (COD) is to keep residents safe, cared for, and engaged in a home setting. The COD is actively engaged and attentive to residents' needs while maintaining the Daily Routine. This may require staying on shift until relief arrives and ensuring residents are never abandoned by leaving the facility without a qualified Brooks Blessings Employee to monitor their needs.
Qualifications:
- Must meet State certification for Certified Nursing Assistant or Home Care Aide training program, with a current and in-good-standing credential; or
- Have applied for Nursing Assistant Register, completed Safety and Orientation training prior to placement, and then complete state certification training and pass the state exam within 120 days, receiving their license within 200 days, as per state regulations.
- Complete 12 hours of continuing education yearly to maintain their caregiver license and enhance skills.
- Have a sympathetic attitude toward all residents.
- Ability to follow directions, read, and write.
- Maturity and ability to handle job demands effectively.
Lifting Requirements:
- Ability to participate in physical activity.
- Ability to work for extended periods while standing and involved in physical activity.
- Heavy lifting capability.
- Ability to do extensive bending, lifting, and standing regularly.
Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as noted in the Care Plan and Daily Routine.
- Prepare and serve meals as directed.
- Perform household chores including making beds, laundry, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms, and other tasks as directed.
- Dispense medications following the 'Five Rights' method, as directed by RM and MAR, ensuring careful attention to instructions.
- Conduct shift turnover, including counting and recording controlled medications.
- Engage residents in activities, monitor their engagement, and proactively care.
- Document ADLs, behaviors, meals, toileting, activities, and health data in electronic systems; communicate any changes or incidents to RM or DOC.
