ICW/Vulnerable Adults. This position has regular contact with or control over Indian Children and Vulnerable Adults. In compliance with Federal Law, this position will not be filled by an applicant with any felonious offense or any of two or more misdemeanor offenses under Federal, State, or Tribal Law involving crimes of violence; sexual assault, molestation, exploitation, contact, or prostitution; crimes against persons;
or offenses committed against children. This position requires a fingerprint check as part of standard procedures for roles involving children or vulnerable populations.
The Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) provides individual, family, and group counseling for patients in substance use disorder programs. The SUDP acts as a mediator between patients, relatives, medical staff, and outside agencies. They continuously monitor and track patient progress and work within the interdisciplinary team at the Nisqually Generations Healing Center. This position ensures confidentiality and accuracy of records and promotes positive relations with employees, customers, and the community.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and outstanding customer service are required. Regular attendance is required; later hours or weekend time may be needed, and a neat, well-groomed professional appearance is essential at all times.
- Provides direct counseling and case management services to patients, including individual, group, family, and educational services; assessment, counseling, and aftercare services.
- Orients clients to facility expectations by explaining rules, potential infractions that may lead to termination, hours of service availability, clients rights and grievance procedures, and costs for which they may be responsible.
- Identifies and explores problems and ramifications with attention to the clients' attitudes and feelings; with client participation, examines alternatives and develops action plans.
- Identifies and responds to crises that may negatively impact treatment and, where possible, uses negative events to enhance treatment efforts.
- Leads discussions and presents lectures and films for group sessions.
- Maintains professional standards and follows treatment policies established by the agency, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conducts follow-up on treatment programs designed for and undertaken by each patient.
- Coordinates and cooperates with staff of other agencies to expedite treatment for each patient.
- Prepares and maintains a confidential, accurate, organized, and updated case file for each client; completes all requisite administrative forms and tracking in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintains accurate and current recordkeeping for each patient in accordance with the electronic records system and agency procedures and protocols (assessments, treatment plans, treatment procedures, discharge summaries, etc.).
- Prepares patient progress reports and completion notices and provides them to interfacing agencies, including courts, probation departments, and referral sources as applicable.
- Participates in community educational programs on substance use disorder for public, professional, and industrial groups.
- Maintains all requirements to ensure SUDP licensure certification remains current and in good standing.
- Ensures security and confidentiality of all program data and operates in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Certified as a Substance Use Disorder Professional in good standing with the State of Washington.
- Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's license and maintain a driving record that meets Nisqually Indian Tribes vehicle insurance provider requirements.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- The ability to work with vulnerable populations, including adults and children.
- Must pass a State and National (FBI) criminal history background check prior to employment.
- Knowledge of the Nisqually Indian Tribe's history, customs, traditions, and ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
- Experience working with Federally Recognized Tribes.
This position does not supervise others.
