Location:

Olympia, Washington. After onboarding/training is complete, this position may be eligible for partial telework. Telework is a combination of in-building and off-site days.

OSPI seeks to fill a Fiscal Analyst 2 (in-training option). This full-time permanent position is based in Olympia, Washington.

Position Overview

This position reports to the General Accounting Manager and is responsible for exercising independent judgement in determining the appropriate application of rules and regulations (RCW, WAC, SAAM) in the following areas: interfacing with multiple systems; general accounting and customer service; program development and payment processing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payment Processing: Verifies correctness of requested payments and amounts; researches questions from team, partners, and vendors; creates and processes payment batches using AFRS, Excel, and Toolbox.
  • General Accounting Support and Customer Service: Researches and responds to customer inquiries; provides backup to accounting staff; miscellaneous other duties as assigned.
  • Process Improvement: Supports Fiscal Staff in implementing new financial tools and helps develop and provide support for organization-wide program improvements.
  • Program Development Power Apps: Supports Fiscal Staff in implementing and managing process improvements; helps develop organization-wide program improvements.
Required Qualifications
  • Customer Service: Experience responding to customer emails; experience providing in-person customer service to resolve questions and problems; experience working with vendors on billing issues.
  • Excel: Create spreadsheets; use formulas; create pivot tables.
  • Electronic Record Keeping: Experience maintaining records according to policy.
  • Depositing / Cash Handling: Experience with form auditing for completeness; experience with authentic checks recognition; experience with online electronic check depositing.
  • Basic Accounting Knowledge: Experience with debits and credits.
  • Accounts Receivable: Experience posting payments to electronic software; experience generating billings; experience with YTD balances and statements.
  • Accounts Payable: Experience auditing payments to contracts and historical records; experience auditing against purchase requests; experience reconciling Visa charges/chargebacks.
  • General Ledger Reconciliation: Experience with account balancing; experience pulling and manipulating data; experience with discrepancy research.
  • Working with a Team: Experience coordinating duties/schedules; experience with professional communication with team members in-person and virtually.
Desired Qualifications
  • Adobe PDF: Experience modifying/combining files.
  • Travel auditing/payment experience: Audit to policy or governmental regulations.
  • Capital Asset inventory: Record assets into software; annual audit of physical inventory.
Compensation

The annual compensation for the position is $53,136 – $71,472 per year and depends upon experience, educational background and qualifications.
