Sage Geotechnical is a geotechnical engineering firm in Tumwater, Wash. We are a small firm dedicated to serving our long-term clients. We pride ourselves on our responsiveness, technical expertise, and determination not to make big problems out of small ones.
We are seeking an entry-level geotechnical engineer to assist with field explorations, soil index testing, and engineering analyses. New hires will gain valuable experience under the guidance of our senior engineers.
What you bring- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate (obtained or in progress).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS mapping.
- A valid driver’s license and insurable driving record for travel to and from job sites.
- The ability to work independently at job sites and to communicate effectively with subcontractors and construction foremen/superintendents.
- The ability to work in our Tumwater office and on job sites.
- The ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work on uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
- The attention to detail needed to document field activities, observations, and test results in concise logs/reports.
- Support engineers with design work and preparation of project documents, including technical reports.
- Help with geologic and geotechnical analysis and basic calculations.
- Assist in the field with soil sampling, groundwater monitoring, infiltration testing, mapping, and site observations.
- Observe and document construction activities.
- Perform laboratory testing and communicate results to the internal project team and clients.
- Pitch in with everyday project tasks and general office support when needed.
You’ll have the chance to hit the ground running with our small, busy team. The experience you’ll gain with a boutique firm of expert engineers will be deep, varied, and consequential.
The approximate starting wage will be $35.00-$45.00 per hour, based on qualifications. Benefits will begin after a probationary period of 60 days.
