Our mission "to strengthen the educator workforce through professional standards, policy, and innovation" drives our work. Our board members and staff are committed to ensuring all Washington students learn from culturally responsive, equity-minded educators. We prioritize advancing equity in the education system with an emphasis on fostering antiracist practices and policies.
In addition to serving as the state's educator licensure board, we oversee approval and review of all educator preparation programs. We focus on educator quality, workforce diversity, and policy innovation through grants administration, work groups, and pilot projects.
