DSHS ESA Support Enforcement Technician

The Economic Services Administration (ESA), Division of Child Support (DCS) is currently seeking one Support Enforcement Technician to join our team in the Headquarters Central Services office located in Olympia, WA.
DescriptionAs a Support Enforcement Technician (SET), you will utilize multiple computer applications to process child support referrals, post payments to child support cases, and perform research for payment disbursement. You will also answer calls that come in through the phone line. Work is assigned weekly but may vary due to volume and frequent reassignments. Accurate and timely completion requires critical thinking, attention to detail, and multitasking skills.
This is a full‑time position that requires an in‑office presence and may provide an opportunity for part‑time telework.
Some Of What You’ll Do- Access confidential information only for purposes directly associated with the scope of employment and program administration.
- Review and respond to incoming information, including imaged correspondence mail, electronic messages, and electronic data fed via interface and conduct case reviews promptly.
- Categorize and image case file documents for electronic retention.
- Enter and accurately maintain case data on the electronic Support Enforcement Management System (SEMS).
- Review payments and conduct research in SEMS for application to the appropriate non‑custodial parent case(s), contacting employers when additional remittance information is needed.
- Refer payments to Support Enforcement Officers (SEO) for additional research or manual distribution when needed.
- Process requests from custodial and non‑custodial parents for direct deposit and DCS card set‑up.
- Ensure SEMS records accurately reflect the documents received and action taken.
- Adhere to strict internal controls regarding mail and cash handling, utilizing FMIS to maintain and post receipts accurately to ensure compliance with Federal requirements for processing all payments within 24 hours.
- Fold, seal, route, and include appropriate attachments for outgoing mail generated by SEOs; use SEMS to prepare legal documents for certified mailing.
- Bundle and route outgoing mail through appropriate channels; operate complex machinery and programs to image and index documents for electronic retention.
- Use knowledge and independent judgment in assigning documents to electronic files.
- Two years of college‑level coursework
* OR - Two years of customer service–related experience
* in a program or service area involving research, investigation, auditing, reporting, administration, law enforcement, community relations, or a closely related field.
* Note:
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute year for year.
