Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate Family Decision Making (FGDM) meetings as an independent, impartial facilitator.
  • Partner with referring agencies to plan and deliver FGDM meetings.
  • Manage meetings positively and sensitively, enabling family members to draw up family plans that address current concerns.
  • Help families identify strengths and resources within their own family network.
  • Support the Team Manager in delivering training to family help practitioners about effective family network meetings.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with FGDM in a Children's Social Care or Early Help setting, including child protection, pre- proceedings and court proceedings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage children, young people, families and professionals in the FGDM process.
  • Experience completing accurate and sensitive assessments to produce Care / Support Plans.

Greater use of FGDM is a key part of the programme. These posts assist in delivering this through a well-established team using FGDM to enable family networks to support children.
