Plant Fitter – Mobile & Workshop Based

Location: North West
Salary: £18–£22 per hour (depending on NVQ level)
Hours: 40.5 hours per week + overtime
Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are currently recruiting for a qualified Plant Fitter (NVQ Level 2 or
3) to join a well-established engineering team supporting a nationwide hire fleet
.

You will work alongside an experienced engineer carrying out maintenance, breakdowns, and demonstration work on a range of hydraulic and diesel-driven machinery
, including Scania engine-powered mobile shredders
. The role offers a mix of workshop and field-based work.

• Maintenance and repair of heavy plant and mobile machinery

• Breakdown diagnostics and fault finding (engines, electrics, hydraulics)

• Field-based service work across the UK (excluding Ireland and Scotland)

• Supporting machine demonstrations where required

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance / Heavy Vehicle / Engineering

• Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrics

• Willingness to travel and stay away overnight when required

• Full UK driving licence preferred

• Hours:

  • Mon–Thu: 08:00–17:30

  • Fri: 08:00–15:30

  • 30-minute lunch break

• Door-to-door pay

• Overtime:

  • Time & a half (Saturday)

  • Double time (Sunday)

• Company van provided once established in the role (initially travel to workshop; collection possible)

• Holidays:

  • 20 days + bank holidays

  • Increases with service up to 25 days
