Operations Manager

Willmott Dixon is recruiting an Operations Manager within our North West construction business, responsible for leading multiple project teams delivering schemes typically ranging from £10m to £90m in value.

This is a senior operational leadership role. You will act as a key link between project delivery and the wider regional leadership team, ensuring projects are set up correctly, governed rigorously, and delivered safely, predictably and profitably.
You will be involved end-to-end: from first-stage tendering and pre-construction, through live delivery, handover, and post-completion performance.

Leadership & Accountability - Lead and support multiple Project Leads and site teams, creating clarity, consistency and confidence in delivery.
Pre-Construction & Work Winning - Collaborate with Pre-Construction teams during first-stage tenders, bringing buildability, logistics and programme support
-Identify and resolve early-stage risks.
Programme, Commercial & Risk Control - Ensure projects are planned properly, reported honestly, and recovered early when performance deviates.
Design, Quality & Technical Assurance - Lead operational input into design development, ensuring information is complete, coordinated and buildable.
Supply Chain Leadership - Build long-term, trusted relationships with Supply Chain Partners.
Safety, Health, Environment & Sustainability - Be visibly accountable for the highest standards of SHE and act decisively where unsafe behaviors or conditions are observed.
Customers & Reputation - Act as a trusted senior interface for customers.
What Success Looks Like - Projects are calmly controlled and well reported with the teams feeling clear, supported and accountable.

Essential and Desirable Criteria

Essential Criteria

Experience leading multiple live construction projects.
Strong track record of resolving technical, operational and contractual challenges.
Ability to control programme, cost, quality and risk.
Experience working closely with commercial teams, designers and supply chain partners.
Ability to interpret contracts, programmes, drawings and specifications.
Relevant Level 4 qualification (HNC / NVQ4 or equivalent).
Full UK driving license.

Desirable

Experience across multiple sectors.
Degree in a construction-related discipline.
MCIOB status (or working towards).Additional Information
