Position: Social Worker – Adult Mental Health Team

Location: Oldham, UK

Salary: £37 per hour

Contract: Locum, Full Time

Duration: 3 Months

An excellent opportunity has arisen in Oldham for a Social Worker to join the Adult Mental Health Team on a full-time locum basis. What you will do
  • Prepare for social work involvement by reviewing case records and liaising with relevant professionals
  • Undertake assessments of need for service users, carers, and families, including complex and high-risk situations
  • Develop, implement, review, and update Care and Support Plans
  • Design and manage care packages to address social care, health, and wellbeing needs
  • Support individuals and families to make informed choices under Self-Directed Support and Individual Budgets
  • Apply safeguarding procedures and take appropriate action where abuse or neglect is suspected
  • Manage and assess risk, promoting positive behavioural change to reduce risk
  • Undertake crisis assessments and apply relevant legal interventions when required
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date case records
  • Participate in, and where appropriate chair, meetings and decision-making forums
  • Advocate for service users, carers, and families within organisational and legislative frameworks
  • Produce reports, provide data, and contribute to information sharing as required
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with health and voluntary sector organisations
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced colleagues
  • Embrace developments in working practices, particularly the effective use of ICT
  • Commit to continuous professional development, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of legislation and best practice
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in both practice and service delivery
  • Adhere to policies relating to customer care, data protection, finance, safeguarding, and health and safety
  • Uphold and contribute to the Council’s Co-operative Agenda values to enhance service delivery
Experience and skills required
  • Previous experience working within an Adults’ Mental Health Team in a local authority setting
  • Strong assessment skills with service users, carers, and families, including complex and high-risk cases
  • Proven ability to implement, review, and evaluate Care and Support Plans
  • Effective workload management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate case records
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills suitable for formal and legal contexts
