Job Title:

Primary SEND Teacher – KS2 (SEMH / Alternative Provision)

Location: Oldham

Start Date: February 2026 (after half term)

Hours: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Are you a skilled and resilient Primary Teacher with the passion to support pupils who need a different approach to thrive?

GSL Education Manchester is recruiting for a Primary SEND Teacher to join an Alternative Provision in Oldham that supports pupils in KS2
with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, and Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This is a full-time role starting after February half term
, with the opportunity to continue into the new academic year.

About the Role

This is not your typical classroom. You’ll teach a small group of pupils who have struggled in mainstream settings and need a nurturing, highly structured learning environment. Academic progress matters, but so does self-esteem, emotional regulation, and personal development.

You’ll be supported by a strong team of Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff
, and external professionals in a setting built around respect, routine, and relationships.

Your Responsibilities
  • Teach a tailored KS2 curriculum to pupils working at a range of academic levels
  • Create a positive, consistent, and safe classroom environment
  • Plan lessons that promote engagement, emotional safety, and progress
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and celebrate small wins
  • Work closely with SENCOs, therapists, and parents to track progress
What We’re Looking For
  • QTS and recent experience teaching upper KS2 (mainstream or SEND)
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH, ADHD, Autism
    , or behavioural needs
  • Strong classroom presence with a calm and flexible teaching style
  • Ability to differentiate effectively and manage behaviours positively
  • A genuine belief in second chances and inclusive learning
Why Join This Provision?
  • Small class sizes and strong adult-to-pupil ratios
  • Collaborative, supportive team with strong leadership
  • Therapeutic, trauma-informed ethos and well-established routines
  • Opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable pupils
  • Professional development and potential for long-term progression
