Teacher, School Counselor

We are recruiting a resilient and committed PRU Teacher (QTS) to work within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Oldham
. This role is ideal for a qualified teacher with a strong interest in behaviour support, trauma-informed practice and inclusive education.

You will support pupils who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion, delivering structured, engaging learning that promotes re‑engagement, emotional regulation and positive outcomes.

• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons aligned with the secondary curriculum and individual learning needs.
• Support pupils with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour and barriers to learning.
• Create a calm, consistent and structured classroom environment.
• Use positive behaviour management and de‑escalation strategies.
• Contribute to individual support plans, behaviour plans and EHCP targets where applicable.
• Work closely with pastoral teams, SENCOs, teaching assistants and external agencies.
• Monitor progress and engagement through accurate record‑keeping.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and professional practice.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching secondary‑age pupils (mainstream, PRU or alternative provision).
• Strong behaviour‑management skills.
• Calm, consistent and trauma‑informed approach.
• Full availability Monday‑Friday during school hours.
• Experience in PRUs, SEMH settings or alternative provision.
• Ability to deliver functional skills or life‑skills learning.
• Two years of employment references.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (support available).
• Overseas Police checks if applicable.
