Kids TLC organization invites qualified candidates for the role of Maintenance Technician (Full Time) located in Olathe, KS. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age to work or volunteer with Kids TLC.
Purpose of the Position
This is a full‑time position. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for building maintenance and repair, vehicle maintenance, custodial support, yard maintenance, and snow removal. The technician works directly with the Director of Facilities on various project management tasks and campus management duties, and may perform record‑keeping related to these responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide building maintenance including drywall repair, minor plumbing, minor electrical work, painting, carpet cleaning, and other assigned tasks.
- Repair custodial and laundry equipment.
- Maintain vehicle schedules, perform minor repairs, and complete other vehicle‑related tasks as needed.
- Manage campus‑wide fire safety and environmental management systems.
- Support yard maintenance and snow removal for all Kids TLC properties.
- Complete work order tickets that have been self‑assigned or assigned by the Director of Facilities.
- Assist the Director of Facilities with project management, including leading campus projects from start to finish, meeting deadlines, providing documentation, and reporting directly to the Director of Campus Management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position has no direct reports.
Qualifications
- Perform building maintenance and repair for all assigned Kids TLC properties using the CMMS ticketing system.
- Execute minor vehicle maintenance tasks such as changing a flat tire, replacing or jump‑starting a battery, checking safety concerns, and overseeing scheduled repairs.
- Carry out yard maintenance duties including trash pickup, debris removal, bush trimming, bed maintenance, watering plants, and assisting volunteer projects.
- Conduct snow and ice removal from campus walkways.
- Assist the Director of Facilities in tracking supplies and organizing tools, products, and warehouse storage, including custodial and housekeeping closets.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the Director of Facilities.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current Kansas driver’s license.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
Language Ability
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and read a tape.
Cognitive Demands
Ability to apply common‑sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
Knowledge of industry‑specific software, systems, and web‑based programs; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Physical Demands
Ability to lift 70 pounds, climb ladders, endure outdoor weather conditions year round, and safely operate machinery related to lawn care and property maintenance.
Environmental Adaptability
Standard office environment residential living space with high noise level, fast paced, and outdoor weather conditions year round.
