Job SummaryThe Medication Assistant (MA) serves as a caregiver who provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a charge nurse. The MA delivers age‑appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of residents per care plans. Responsibilities include assisting with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, vital sign collection, psycho‑social support, transfer and mobility techniques, range of motion exercises, food preparation, medication administration within scope, documentation, housekeeping, laundry, and participation in wellness and recreational programs.
Qualifications- High school graduate or GED (preferred)
- Minimum age of 18 (preferred)
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience (preferred)
- Satisfactory completion of yearly competency testing and continuing education (12 hours annually)
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance, if applicable
- State certification requirements:
- Iowa:
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course - Minnesota:
Nursing assistant certification and 75‑hour course, Trained Medication Assistant course - North Dakota: CNA with state board approval;
Medication Assistant I or II depending on facility type - South Dakota:
Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course - All Good Samaritan locations:
Certified medication aide (CMA or TMA) plus CNA
