DH Pace Company, Inc. is seeking to hire an Estimator to join our team in our Olathe, KS office. With minimal supervision, the Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, timely, and competitive bids for Commercial Industrial Door and Loading Dock Systems. They will support our sales staff, resulting in profitable sales and positive customer relationships. Knowledge and/or experience in the construction or building materials industry is strongly preferred.
Job Responsibilities- Rapidly develop or possess advanced level skills in using DH Pace estimating processes and procedures and utilizing DH Pace estimating software as well as other business software programs (Excel, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, BAAN, SAM, etc.).
- Rapidly develop or possess advanced level knowledge of door and dock related products, understanding functionality, special features, usage options, and pricing variance based on specific job needs.
- Rapidly develop understanding of Core Product Lines, Vendors, and Labor Standards.
- Educate sales team on product options and assist customers in product selection to ensure sale and best project outcome.
- Perform effective Quote Request Review, Scope Creation, Material List, and Product Selections to generate accurate Project Cost Estimates and Bids.
- Estimate advanced and complex projects of limited size, writing all proposals clearly and concisely for review and approval by Manager prior to customer review.
- Promote and maintain a positive attitude toward outside contractors, architects, and individuals within the Company regardless of the circumstances.
- Understand vendor relationships and build strong relationships with contacts.
- Meet or exceed annual estimating volume expectations as warranted based on experience level or length of time in the position.
- Ability to manage time effectively while sustaining individual and team workloads.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Minimum two (2) years of commercial door/dock work experience OR minimum two (2) years of new construction commercial estimating experience OR minimum two (2) years of building material industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with blueprints, plans, and specs highly desired.
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, and excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively while sustaining individual and team workloads.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Strong language, written, and mathematical skills.
- Computer literate. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office desirable.
