Job Description

Job Title: School Bus Driver

Reports To: Transportation Director

Location: Pauls Valley - District

Summary: Individual must be willing and able to drive all assigned routes as needed and assist other drivers with various duties as needed. Drives a school bus safely in accordance with time schedules; transporting students to and from their homes, a variety of school sites and on field trips as assigned.

• Operate a two-way radio.
• Oversees the loading and unloading of students, releasing students to authorized individual.
• Maintains order and proper discipline of passengers; resolves disputes, documents and reports severe disciplinary cases.
• Conducts daily safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle.
• Assures maintenance of bus and that bus is in a safe and clean operating condition.
• Reports needed mechanical repairs.
• Installs special safety belts.
• Sweeps interior of the bus and washes windows daily.
• Services the bus with gas and oil.
• Maintains a variety of records and reports including but not limited to mileage, routing, maintenance, and time schedules.
• Attends meetings, programs, and in-service training as assigned.
• Maintains current required licenses and certificates.
• Notifies appropriate individuals of any delays in scheduled route.
• Assists with other routes when breakdown or other unusual circumstances occur as assigned.
• Performs other tasks, duties, or services consistent with this position as assigned.

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent previous experience in lieu of education.
• Must possess or be willing to obtain a CDL - Class B combination with passenger and school bus endorsement.
• Must possess or be willing to obtain a State of Oklahoma School Bus Driving Certificate.
• Must have a clean driving record.

• Previous experience driving a passenger bus preferred.

• Must pass an annual DOT physical.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
