The Maintenance Department on the Westville campus is currently seeking a Central Heating and Cooling Operator. This position will operate boilers and chillers to provide campus with steam and chilled water. Daily water testing will be done to maintain proper levels in boiler water and cooling tower water. Daily operation, upkeep of the central plant and equipment within it. This position will also help manage the building automation system which controls the central plant and HVAC systems throughout campus.
General HVAC maintenance, troubleshooting and repair will be required. All maintenance positions may be required to assist in snow removal and have the ability to report for unplanned outages or equipment malfunction.
Job Description

This position will also help manage the building automation system which controls the central plant and HVAC systems throughout campus.
General HVAC maintenance, troubleshooting and repair will be required.
Pay
- $25.00/hour
Schedule
- Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm
Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensures daily operations of the boilers and all associated equipment
- Performs daily water chemistry analysis and adjustment to water treatment program
- Performs preventive maintenance on boilers for state inspections
- Performs maintenance of steam distribution system
- Ensures daily operations of chillers and associated equipment
- Performs water chemistry analysis and adjustment to chemical treatment program
- Performs preventative off-season maintenance on chillers to ensure optimal cooling performance
- Performs maintenance of chilled water distribution system
- Temperature Control/HVAC Maintenance & Repair
- Inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, installs and repairs campus HVAC equipment and related controls
- Responds to service calls pertaining to HVAC building controls and equipment from Dispatch
- Performs additional work as needed in the maintenance department
Documentation and Development
- Provides operational data for reports
- Personal learning as required/requested to maintain skill level
- Snow removal, event support and other duties as assigned

Education
- Requires a high school diploma/GED
Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience operating and maintaining steam boilers and centrifugal water chillers
- Experience in pneumatic and direct digital control systems
- Experience in commercial HVAC systems operations and maintenance
- Stationary Engineers certification preferred
Core Competencies
- Must possess written and verbal skills in communicating with all members of the campus community
- Ability to diagnose and solve issues with the central heating and cooling system
- Must be able to respond to after-hours notifications and emergency calls
- Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license
