Summary

Performs inspection, maintenance, and/or restoration of transmission and distribution steel utility structures. Responsible for the direct supervision of field crews while planning, organizing, and coordinating daily field operations for various job types. Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Perform work according to standard work practices, procedures, and customer specifications, including but not limited to excavating soil, inspecting structures, collecting detailed structural measurements, applying coatings, and restoring the job site to its original condition.
  • Maintain good customer and public relations by maintaining a professional appearance, being courteous, and communicating in a clear, respectful manner.
  • Maintain a positive company image, including the appearance of the crew, vehicles, and work areas.
  • Hire, train, motivate and supervise a crew of up to five (5) employees of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
  • Effectively manage daily work and crew to meet safety, quality, production, expense control, and crew management goals.
  • Organize resources and prioritize work to complete job within established timeframe.
  • Operate vehicles to transport material, equipment, and crew to and from job site— including utility vehicles (UTVs) and trailer towing as needed.
  • Collect, record, and submit accurate, complete, and timely data related to timekeeping, payroll, and work performed.
  • Promote and enforce safety by conducting daily briefings, weekly safety meetings, ensuring safe work practices are followed, monitoring, and maintaining tool condition, and ensuring all drivers of company vehicles are qualified through company programs.
  • Properly maintain all vehicles, equipment, and tools used by the crew.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of equipment, tools, materials, and supplies.
  • Enforce and comply with all company and/or customer-required policies and procedures, including but not limited to crew member coaching, disciplinary action, a Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace, prohibition of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
Minium Qualifications
  • Two years technical education or equivalent work experience
  • Willing and able to travel extensively.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting structural drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
  • Be familiar with shop machinery and/or hand tools required for various tasks.
  • Possess good math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions.
  • Must Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
  • Must have good communication skills, work well under pressure, and be familiar with a production-related environment.
  • Able to work in an outdoor environment including traversing difficult terrain.
  • Be able to pass a DOT medical exam.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Necessary)
  • AMPP CIP and CP certification
  • Experience as a certified welder.
  • Experience with cutting torch
  • Ability to operate a skid steer, backhoe, and front-end loader.
  • Experience with concrete structural repairs

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); possess some specialized training or at least three (3) months of related work experience. Must successfully complete all aspects of an eight (8) to ten (10) week Foreman Training Program, covering administration, crew management, steel structure inspection procedures, steel structure surface preparation and coating application procedures, safety, and driver qualification.
