Upper School Cafe Kitchen Assistant

As the Calvin Cafe Kitchen Assistant, you will be part of our Mission Support Team. The Calvin Cafe has built a reputation for providing delicious, attractive, and nutritious meals and snacks that the students and staff look forward to enjoying during morning break and lunchtime. In this role, you will work on a small but vital team in the Food Services Department.

This position performs multiple functions:
Cashiering, Serving, and Operational Tasks, which are performed in an environment with a noise level consistent with working in a food preparation area.

Cashiering and Operational Tasks are performed on the Upper School campus. The successful Cashier will learn the students’ names quickly and address them in a warm and friendly manner. Knowledge of computerized point-of-sale systems is preferred, but training is also provided. Operational Tasks include ordering products and food items, maintaining the online lunch ordering system, creating menus using Google Docs, and tracking Food Services income and expenses using Google Sheets.

Elementary Lunch service begins with meal preparation on the Upper School campus, and then lunch items are transported across the street to the Elementary School campus. The Elementary Lunch service area must be set up and taken down daily.

Calvin Cafe team members work collaboratively to select seasonal menu items, prepare food, and provide memorable dining experiences at special school events throughout the year. All Cavin Cafe team members maintain a clean and tidy working environment throughout the day by wiping surfaces, washing dishes, disposing of trash, and performing other cleaning tasks.

This part‑time, hourly, non‑exempt position pays $17.10-$21.32 per hour.

• Faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with the school.
• Since the position is physically demanding, the person serving must possess significant strength and physical ability to perform all duties as assigned.
