PurposeManages service operations within the dealership to maximize return on investment by optimizing service department processes and ensuring internal and external customer satisfaction. Grows profitable service labor sales, controls expenses, and attracts, retains, and engages department personnel.
Responsibilities- Develop, communicate, enforce, and monitor effective service department processes to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Create annual service department goals and budget aligned with the organization’s financial and operational objectives.
- Develop and execute a marketing plan for the service department, monitoring monthly progress to meet goals.
- Coordinate customer clinics, field days, and related promotional events.
- Submit all warranty and Product Improvement Program claims within required time frames to receive maximum credit.
- Schedule and assign jobs and work areas to employees based on their skills and knowledge.
- Review work orders for completeness and accuracy before customer billing.
- Ensure all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order.
- Manage recruiting, staffing, and employee development activities for direct reports.

The role involves exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, extreme heat and cold, and loud noise levels. Standard office equipment is used, as well as hand tools and forklifts.

Requirements- 3+ years of experience in service department operations.
- Proficiency with standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills for individuals and groups.
- Familiarity with John Deere and competing products.
- Basic understanding of financial principles related to service department operations.
- Analysis and interpretation of internal reports.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
