Location: Hugo

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Technician with strong hands-on expertise in fiber optic infrastructure
, including OTDR and BERT testing
. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of structured cabling systems within a data center environment, ensuring high availability and optimal network performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, terminate, and test single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables
  • Perform fiber testing using OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) and interpret test results
  • Conduct BERT (Bit Error Rate Testing) to validate signal integrity and transmission quality
  • Troubleshoot fiber connectivity issues, signal loss, and performance degradation
  • Perform fiber splicing (fusion and mechanical) and connectorization
  • Install and maintain fiber patch panels, trays, and enclosures
  • Support data center activities including rack & stack, cross-connects, and cabling audits
  • Maintain accurate documentation of fiber routes, test reports, and labeling
  • Work closely with network engineers and operations teams to resolve issues
  • Follow data center standards, safety protocols, and change management procedures
  • Provide on-call or after-hours support as required
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Data Center Technician or Fiber Technician
  • Strong hands-on experience with OTDR testing
  • Strong hands-on experience with BERT testing
  • Strong hands-on experience with Fiber optics (SMF/MMF)
  • Experience with fiber splicing and termination tools
  • Ability to read and understand fiber diagrams, schematics, and as-built documentation
  • Knowledge of data center standards (TIA, ISO, structured cabling best practices)
  • Familiarity with network equipment (switches, routers, optical transceivers)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
