Description
Speech Pathologist diagnosis speech, language, swallowing, and communication disorders. Provides Speech Therapy Evaluations and treatments as documented in the plan of care. Works with radiology completing MBS. Provides education to patients, their families, co-workers, and physicians.
Essential FunctionsPerform detailed assessments to evaluate speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders, gathering relevant patient information and history to inform treatment planning.
Create tailored therapy plans based on the assessment results, clearly defining short- and longterm goals, and applying evidence-based strategies to promote patient progress.
Appropriately administer therapies, exercises, and techniques that address the patient’s specific needs, ensuring the treatment process is safe, effective, and in line with the established plan of care.
Regularly re‑assess patients' progress and adjust treatment strategies or goals as necessary, ensuring continuous improvement and response to therapy.
Ensure safe and competent operation of all equipment necessary for treatment, including any specialized tools, devices, or technologies used in speech therapy sessions.
Show proficiency in the basic operation of all speech‑therapy equipment and follow facility protocols to ensure equipment is used correctly and safely.
Maintain precise and complete documentation of all therapy sessions, including services rendered, progress made, and any adjustments to the treatment plan, to ensure proper billing and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Coordinate patient schedules for therapy sessions, ensuring timely and efficient treatment delivery while managing any cancellations, rescheduling, or follow‑up needs.
Verbalize and accurately document any incidents, accidents, or concerns that arise during therapy sessions, following proper procedures to file incident reports and notify appropriate parties.
Qualifications EducationMaster's Degree Speech and Language Pathology
License- Speech‑Language Pathologist
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Work Experience and Additional Information- One (1) year experience in a clinical setting.
- Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) Speech Pathology from the American Speech‑Language and Hearing Association or eligibility for certification pending professional experience or equivalent within one year.
