Arbuckle Memorial Hospital has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The tasks or duties assigned to this jobcould affect the safety and health of the employee or others.

SUMMARY

The Medical Biller (Follow Up) is primarily responsible for the over-all accuracy and timely filing of claims. This position will handle a share of the billingworkflow and review processes which include, but are not limited to edits,appeals, coding query and updating payer guidelines and OIG regulations.

JOB DUTIES
  • Electronicallysubmits claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and/or commercial insurance companies.
  • Verifiescustomer eligibility with insurance carriers and if necessary, acquiresauthorization.
  • Requestcoding verifications and changes per documentation, Updates and reviews aged receivablesfor unpaid balances and resolves claim issues.
  • Communicates with customers regarding their billing and assists in collections and processespayments.
  • Receivescompleted shipped orders and verifies accuracy and completeness of all required information.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Positionsrequires a High School diploma;
    Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum1 year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and able to effectively manage departmental productivitytime.
  • Clearcomprehension of written information in work-related documents.
  • Verbal communication skills to relay information effectively.
  • Abilityto use reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Skillsto apply basic mathematics to solve problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally bend and move about the facility.
  • Occasionallight physical effort required.
  • Occasional lifting under 10 lbs.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

This position requires a higher level of knowledge in the billing skill set with the ability to follow up on existing claims, address the aging A/R and completeaccurate and timely appeals. Communication is a key function for this position.
