Job Purpose
The House Supervisor is the 24/7 representative of hospital administration, and ensures optimal operations of the hospital. Serves in a supervisory capacity overseeing the staff. Takes responsibility for the hospital culture, staff coordination, patient progression, crisis and emergency management, and other administrative duties as assigned by the nurse manager. Any position that has direct patient care is considered to be safety sensitive by Avem Health Partners standards.

- Maintains oversight of clinical care on assigned shift to include patient assessment, development and modification of the plan of care, providing nursing care as needed, arranging break coverage, recognizing and responding to changes in condition, and responding to emergencies.
- Supervises clinical staff to include addressing staff issues and concerns, performance coaching, providing guidance and support, contribute to performance evaluations, providing meaningful recognition, assisting with recruitment and hiring, and ensuring clinical competencies are adequate to care for assigned patients and ensures compliance with the Nursing Practice Act.
- Coordinates telehealth consultation as needed.
- Leads shift huddles.
- Mentors, coaches, encourages, and develops the clinical team to ensure high quality, safe care is delivered.
- Leads positively and fosters an inclusive, patient-focused, and productive work environment.
- Proactively prevents patient complaints and grievances and provides service recovery when expectations are not met.
- Ensures hospital policies and procedures are followed and staff feel empowered to report concerns.
- Communicates to the Nurse Manager, CNO and Hospital Administrator of situations that may place the facility at risk.
- Implements disaster plan as needed.
- Delegates such tasks as may safely be performed by others, consistent with educational preparation and that do not conflict with the Nursing Practice Act.
- Ensures that required documentation is complete and compliant with regulations and standards.
- Responsible for keeping current in nursing trends and knowledge. Develops and participates in In-services and professional development programs as required.
- Must be able to provide clinical supervision to CNAs and LPNs.
- Ensure all safety and infection control protocols are followed.
- Coordinates unit-based staffing assignments on a shift basis to achieve high quality care.
- Anticipates staffing needs for subsequent shifts and makes necessary arrangements for coverage.
- Serves as a resource for staff.
- Participates in orientation for new hires. Serves as a preceptor as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned within scope of practice.

- Assume responsibility for seeking out educational and professional opportunities for personal learning needs and growth as well as meeting mandatory education requirements.
- Act as a preceptor as requested.
- Demonstrate excellent work attendance and attend and actively participate in a variety of meetings and training sessions as required.
