Medical Assistant – The Clinic @ Central Oklahoma Family Medical Center
POSITION TITLE: Medical Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Nursing
NATURE OF POSITION: The Medical Assistant is a member of the interdisciplinary medical team of Central Oklahoma Family Medical Center. The position assists medical providers in the examination and treatment of patients and functions as a liaison between the medical staff, health information, lab, and administrative departments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Previous clinical experience preferred
- Strong written and communication skills
- Strong working knowledge in computer systems such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and/or lift for extended periods of time
- Performs routine intake procedures including temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, and blood pressure readings
- Assists medical providers with examination and treatment of patients
- Provides assistance with administrative procedures required, including patient referral, charting and documentation of activities and phone calls
- Demonstrates teamwork and commitment to quality patient care
- Attends clinic mandated and departmental in services and trainings
- Performs other duties as assigned within the guidelines set forth by the organization
- Exhibits enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and professionalism in the workplace
- Handles personal conflict and works through it at the lowest possible level
- Displays a friendly manner and is easy to approach
- Maintains neat, clean, well‑groomed appearance and dresses in accordance with the dress code policy
- Treats all coworkers with dignity and respect
- Arrives on time and works through designated hours
- Completes tasks effectively, accurately and on time
- Demonstrates little or no absenteeism and follows leave guidelines
- Follows designated line of support
- Displays willingness and flexibility to respond to unusual job‑related demands
- Manages time well and assists others in the work of the department
- Works independently, requesting assistance from supervisor only as needed
- Adheres to the mission and vision of COFMC
- Participates in cross training and identifies skill development needs
