Duties
SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of this position is to plan, implement, administer, and advise on Voluntary Education opportunities, the Military Tuition Assistance (MilTA) program, career and force development programs, testing, and other education and training services and activities available to military members, Department of Defense (DoD) civilians and family members. DUTIES:
* Provides individual career, academic, and force development advisement services to military personnel, dependents, and civilian personnel pursuing Voluntary Education opportunities.
* Serves as technical expert on a variety of Voluntary Education programs.
* Provides advisement and coordination on the Skill Bridge program.
* Provides mass briefings and a variety of outreach and customer services duties.
* Performs various administrative duties related to the Voluntary Education program. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.
* Personnel data to which the incumbent has access are controlled by the Privacy Act of 1974 and must be safeguarded appropriately.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
* May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1740, Education Services Series.
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: A Bachelor's degree (or higher degree that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the position to be filled in one or a combination of the areas described below. At least one course must have been from (1) or (2) below.

EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes assisting in planning, implementing, administering, and advising on activities designed to provide individualized career-related or self-development education plans to include education and training academic opportunities, tuition assistance program, career development programs, and other education and training services and activities and counseling students or enrollees to establish educational and occupational objectives.

EDUCATION:
Completed 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
