We provide swim instruction to our community that builds confidence and develops safety skills in a student‑centered environment. We are committed to training our staff to teach swim lessons, giving them the tools they need to be successful. This is a diverse, inclusive, and supportive workplace.

Job Summary

Sharks & Minnows Swim School seeks experienced swim instructors for group and private swim lessons, from babies 6 months old to adults, including survival and learning‑to‑swim skills. Due to the high profile of the school, this individual must be a self‑starter who displays a professional and friendly demeanor. While you need not have extensive experience, there are some things that are required.

Requirements

of the Swim Instructor
  • 18 years or older
  • Reliable transportation
  • People/Communication Skills – comfortable speaking in front of and interacting with children and parents
  • Outgoing, fun personality
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, and children every day
  • Experience in competitive swimming, coaching, teaching, babysitting, tutoring, mentoring, and lifeguarding
  • Great attitude – willingness and ability to follow set lesson plans and teaching styles, and train to teach the Sharks & Minnows way
  • Availability:
    Must be able to teach in the afternoon and evenings Mon, Tue & Thu or Wed & Fri 3 pm–8 pm or Sat 9 am–2 pm. Instructor shifts are at one pool location, not driving from pool to pool.

As a swim instructor, you are responsible for the safety of each class and teaching swim skills to students using our curriculum. You will work to build water confidence within your students, encouraging each student to rise to the best of their abilities. You can expect to be regularly communicating with students and fellow staff members, and should welcome feedback and be a continuous learner.

We offer paid training. This is a part‑time position that requires afternoon/evening shifts. Monday, Wednesday, Friday 3 – 8 pm or Tuesday, Thursday 3 – 8 pm & Saturday 9 – 2 pm. Morning shifts are also available once school is out.

Compensation

$16.00 – $24.00 per hour

Member schools are independently owned and operated. Your application will go directly to the member school, and all hiring decisions will be made by the management of this school. All inquiries about employment at these schools should be made directly to the school location, and not to US Swim School Association.
