Position: Salaried GP
Location: Blackburn

We currently have an exciting job opportunity at StGeorges Surgery. You can join our teamin the role of Salaried GP. This position is 6 sessions per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays withon-call cover on a rota system.

We are a forward-looking practice that promotes the development of ARRS roles and to this end, we currently host a Salaried GP, Physicians Associate, two Clinical Pharmacists, one Pharmacy Technician and a Mental Health Practitioner.

We value learning and development for the whole practice, and we timetable several learning events and meetings through theyear. We train people in various stages of their careers, including medical students, foundation year doctors and GP trainees.

Interviews will be held on the morning of Wednesday 11th February 2026

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate would be an enthusiastic and forward-thinking GP whois ready to embrace change and innovation within this well-established and dedicated team. They will be highly motivated and committed to providing excellent patient care.

About us

We are a long-established, GP training practice ofjust over 10,000 patients that is steadily growing. We are a happy, friendly place with several long-serving staff members. We have afavourable reputation among the local population and excellent relationships with neighbouring practices. We wererated Good by CQC at our last inspection and our QOF achievements are high.

Ours is a clinical team of six regular GPs (five ofwhom are partners), one Advanced Nurse Practitioner, two Practice Nurses, one Nurse Associate and one HCA. The clinicians are well-supported with a full team of administrative and management staff.

Job responsibilities

a.The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

b.The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract

c.Genericprescribing adhering to local and national guidance

d.Effective management of long-term conditions

e.Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

f.Ona rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles

g.Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

h.Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

i.Adhereto best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

j.Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

k.Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

l.Attendand contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

m.Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including;clinical governance, training, financial management and HR

n.Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

o.Prepare and complete the revalidation process

p.Committo self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

q.Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines

r.Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

s.Reviewand adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times

t.Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a cultureof continuous improvement at all times

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP
  • General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
Experience
  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
  • Experience of continued professional development
  • Experience of QOF and clinical audit
  • Experience of medicines management
  • Experience of ICB initiatives
