Automotive Service Technician
Jeremy Hodge Chevrolet GMC
The Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining vehicles in accordance with manufacturer standards and company procedures. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic vehicle issues
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering suspension, HVAC, and electrical systems
- Conduct routine maintenance services including inspections, fluid services and component replacements
- Use diagnostic tools, scan tools, and service information systems accurately
- Test-drive before and after repairs to ensure proper operation
- Document work performed and recommended repairs clearly and accurately
- Communicate findings and repair needs to service advisors or management
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
- Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and manufacturer guidelines
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or GED (general equivalency diploma) required
- Technical school or automotive training preferred
- Previous service technician experience required (level based on position)
- ASE certifications preferred (or willing to obtain)
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and time-management skills
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel and lift up to 75 lbs
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced shop environment
- Ability to work with tools, machinery and diagnostic equipment
- Automotive repair facility or dealership service department
- Exposure to noise, chemicals, grease, and varying temperatures
