Bus Driver

Position requires the transportation of Mid-Del students grades K-12. Driver will pick up students at designated stops and safely transport them to school in the AM and back home in the PM. Opportunities to assist with field trips are available on a voluntary basis.

Qualifications:

• Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily
• Must obtain or hold a CDL, Class B license with all required endorsements and school bus certification (training provided). Must pass physical, drug test, background felony check, and driving record check.
• High school diploma or GED required

Responsibilities:

• Obey traffic laws and safety regulations
• Maintain discipline on the bus
• Report undisciplined students
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Report mechanical issues or lateness
• Discharge students at authorized stops
• Report accidents and complete reports
• Maintain professional conduct and appearance
• Additional duties as assigned

Skills and Physical Demands:

• Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions
• Regularly required to handle objects, reach, talk, and hear
• Frequently lift up to 100 pounds and more
• Work involves exposure to outdoor weather, noise, and mechanical hazards

Work Environment:

• Exposure to airborne particles, extreme weather, mechanical parts, and noise
• Work location may vary based on health and safety needs

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May supervise other employees as needed.
