Job Summary: Diagnoses, repairs, reconditions, and adjusts key systems and components of trucks and related equipment. Mid-level position – Generally has more than three years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. A level two technician has moderate knowledge of the field’s standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Level two technician performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks;

is indirectly supervised and self-starting; often a team member on a large project. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis:
1) Demonstrate alignment with the company’s mission and core business values;
2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources;
3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Essential Functions
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses moderately complex engine malfunctions and failures with direction and minimum supervision.
  • Performs thorough engine and related equipment repairs on trucks and trailers with direction and minimum supervision.
  • Disassembles, inspects, determines parts required, and reassembles to factory specifications within TRGs.
  • Provides quality control/assurance inspections of completed tasks to include road testing.
  • Uses computers and related software to assist in diagnosing and reprograming engines.
  • Completes documentation for service reports, timecards, parts requisition and returns.
  • Interprets and utilizes information from operating, maintenance, online resources, and service manuals/bulletins.
  • Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates.
  • Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
  • Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order.
  • Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed.
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs.
  • Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance.
  • Acts as a mentor and coach to lower level Technicians.
  • Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training.
  • Consistently maintains an average rework of less than 1%.
  • Ensures a positive average variance consistently.
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Ability to meet all requirements as outlined in Leveling Description Guide to include Basic Requirements, Electrical System, Engine Systems, AC/Heat System, Fuel System, Compressed Air Systems, Cooling System, Rear Differential, Intake/Exhaust Systems, Drive Train Components, Clutches, Tier IV Engine Emission Systems and Transmissions.
  • Ability to meet all technical and performance requirements for a level one technician.
  • Solid knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Sound knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and electronic systems diagnostic tooling.
  • Operation and control skills of vehicle fleet.
  • Problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional skills in customer service.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures.
